Last weekend we did De Gordel. A bicycle tour in Flanders around Brussels. We did 118.86 KM in 6h10. 19,23 Average Speed.

This Sunday (Nov 30, 2008) we were at the Lotto Arena in Antwerp for the last concert of Natalia's Glamorous Tour.

It's the 4th time I see Natalia in concert. The first time was ok. The second time I was disappointed. The third time was ok but I still found she was shouting instead of singing.

This time was ... exceptional :

1. She was singing and not shouting: real emotions could flow instead of a mass of decibels.

2. There was a real dance floor : Natalia and the dancers provided a superior experience.

3. There were nice surprises like singing Prince and the appearance of Stam van Samang.

So it was an excellent concert this time !!

Yesterday on Europe1 I was listening to Luc Montagnier, Virologue, ancien professeur à l'institut Pasteur, codécouvreur du VIH. He was saying that the antioxidants are widely used as ingredients in dietary supplements in the hope of maintaining health and preventing diseases such as cancer and coronary heart disease.

Today I was at our restaurant and what do I see : Coca Cola Light Plus Antioxidant ! I bought it to try. It seems Coca-Cola has very well understood what drives consumers to buy such a product... Wel done Coca Cola.

Cyclo-Cross d'Overijse

Ce dimanche 16 décembre 2007 avait lieu le cyclo-cross de Overijse. J'y étais.

Tous les meilleurs coureurs y étaient aussi.

Ici, Sven Nys en action.

Mais le cyclo-cross c'est surtout une ambiance. La foule dans les champs qui crie pour encourager les coureurs.

Dans la descente - tres glissante car il gelait !

... et dans la montée

Klaas Vantornout a mis le turbo et voici le groupe de poursuivants qui traverse la pleine de jeux.

Finalement Klaas Vantornout n'est jamais repris et gagne la course.

Prendre la rue de la loi à contre sens à Bruxelles ? C'est possible... Le jour du dimanche sans voitures.
Nous avons roulé 40 KM dans Bruxelles. Heysel, Grand Place, Cinquantenaire, Avenue Louise, Petite ceinture et retour au Heysel.

I was in Lisbon last weekend and I took photos of Azulejos on houses. Here is the collage of all those Azulejos.

Azulejos are are a typical form of Portuguese or Spanish painted, tin-glazed, ceramic tilework. They have become a typical aspect of Portuguese culture, manifesting without interruption during five centuries the consecutive trends in art.

I'm currently building a database of key slides and illustrations I have used during my carreer.

Here is a mindmap I did for XML Days in 2002.

The purpose of this mindmap was to explain the explosion of technologies around XML and why people could think that XML is simple but in fact it is not.

From this spaghetti, I made a kind of lasagne, that I called XEE (XML Entreprise Edition, like J2EE is Java Entreprise Edition).

Here was my picth in 2002:

XML has now clearly evolved to the enterprise standard for application integration. If the principles of using XML are simple, its integration in a company's infrastructure can become a real software challenge. In this presentation we will present our vision of the XML software infrastructure that can solve a lot of these challenges. This infrastructure allows to:
• adapt old applications to XML
• create new XML compliant applications
• build the required XML services (directories like UDDI, security, transactionality, routing, transformations, storage, synchronization, querying, web services...)
• plug in new kind of XML applications (BPM, Content Management, Portals, XForms, Mobile Applications,...)

The solution was an XML Enabled Service Oriented Infrastructure... which I believe is still the best integration pattern today.

No, because my own website doesn't make use of the latest user friendly web2.0 capabilities.

No, because phpWiki doesn't allow other people to contribute to my website, so I had to add a comments system to the wiki.
